JUNE

Wed. June 25 Science Play ~ Plant Power! (Ages 3-6; must be potty trained)

See, feel, hear, smell & taste plants at this seed party! You are never too young to explore the world around you! 10:30-12:00. $18 nm/$10 m.

Wed. June 25  - Wiggle with the Worms.(Ages 6-10; younger with a participating adult).

Get hands-on with these fascinating creatures of the dirt! Hold worms, hunt for worm eggs, and create worm crafts.

Thurs. June 26 – Science Play ~ Wild Water!

(Ages 3-6; must be potty trained)

The young ones will love science as they explore water and all of its unique properties. You are never too young to explore the world around you!

Thurs. June 26Volcanoes! (Ages 6-9)

Become a volcanologist! Learn about volcanoes, volcanic eruptions and how to build a volcano. Participants will get hands on experience building a volcano for Hands On!

Fri. June 27 - Royal Tea Party(Ages 3-6)

Princes & Princesses are invited to a Royal Tea Party.  Create a crown & learn tea party manners.

Must be potty trained to attend w/o adult; younger can attend accompanied by adult.

Sat. June 28/Sun. June 29 Night at the Museum! (Ages 6-10 with accompanying adult) Ever wanted to spend the night at the museum? You can!

Fun program, free play, snack & breakfast!

Tues. July 1 – Science Play ~ Sound! (Ages 3-6)

The young ones will love science as they learn about sound & the mysteries of air movement.  Fireworks aren’t the only noise-makers.

You are never too young to explore the world around you!

Tues. July 1 – Explosion Palooza! (Ages 8-11)

The 4th of July is coming soon! Explore the science of explosions as you get ready for the holiday that celebrates with fireworks!

Wed. July 2 – Bubble-mania(Ages 6-10;

younger participants are welcome with an adult).  If loud noises are not for you, then learn about the science & art of bubble making!

You will learn to blow lots of bubbles & even take home bubbles.

Wed. July 2 – Sounds of Science (Ages 8-11)

Ever wondered why you hear sound? How can you “see” vibrations? Explore the science of sounds.

We will explore musical instruments, the role of vibrations in hearing & more.

Mon. July 7 - Nano Science ~ the invisible science! (Ages 8-11) We are usually closed on Mondays, but for this day the museum is open just for you!

Explore Nano Science – the science of the very, very small (so small you can’t see it) with hands-on experiments & games.

Tues.July 8 & Wed. July 9 – Dino Dig! (Ages 9-11)

Become a paleontologist and excavate fossils and dinosaur skeletons.

Learn the scientific techniques of a field scientist as you discover the world of the dinosaur.

Thurs. July 10  - Let’s Go Fly! (Ages 8-11)

Learn the basics of aerodynamics create different styles of paper airplanes & test their flying skills.

Fri. July 11 – Bugs & Butterflies (Ages 7-10)

If you love the animals that creep, crawl & fly, then you will love this class.

Mon. July 14 – Don’t Try This At Home…Try It at Hands On!(Ages 8-11) We are usually closed on Mondays,

but for this day the museum is open just for you!

Explore science with experiments Mom isn’t going to let you do at home, but you can at Hands On!

Tues. July 15 – African Drumming Class(Ages 6-10) Join instructor Maria Freeman to learn African drumming rhythms, explore and create African masks & instruments.

Wed. July 16 – The Art & Science of Felt! (Ages 8-11)Use colored wool to create felted beads & jewelry.

Create beautiful felted pictures (please see our website for photo examples).

Explore the concepts of design and color science.

Accept a decorating challenge and the battle of beauty begins! Who will win?

Fri. Aug. 15 – Playtrays!  (Ages 3-6; must be potty trained) Experience creative hands-on play with materials that encourage focus & independence.

Each playtray is filled with materials to stimulate the imagination into a world of open-ended play.

WEEK-LONG CAMPS!

Tues.July 22 – Fri. July 25 – The Way Things Move!(Ages 8-11)

Become an engineer as we build multiple vehicles that move.

Uncover & harness the forces of motion!

Tues. July 29–Fri. Aug. 1- Comedy Camp with

Dr. Dennis (Ages 7 & up).  Laughter is the best medicine!

Learn about the health benefits of good, clean humor!

Work on presentation, timing, puns & homophones

and practice these concepts by acting.

Comedy Presentation at 12:30 on the last day.  

Cost to attend performance is $5 per person ~ invite your friends to see you perform!

Mon. July 28–Fri. Aug. 1– CSI: Hands On! (Ages 8-11)

Can you solve a crime? Want to try?

Examine the crime scene on Monday and spend the week learning forensic techniques to discover the perpetrator.

Tues.Aug. 5 – Fri. Aug. 8 – Incredible Energy!(Ages 8-11)

How is electricity created?  Can you create a battery, light bulb, and an oven?
