Scintillating Scientific Seminars I 2 hour seminars for those that want to delve deeper into a subject or have an out of classroom experience on the school grounds whether it is a school nature trail or playground. Available for Elementary & Middle School levels.
Nature Exploration – Dive into the world of ecosystems. Explore the world outside your classroom with naturalists, Dr. Bunson & Dr. Beaker. Whether using a nature trail on site or an open field, participants will examine ecosystems as small as a square foot and as large as a forest or meadow. We will discuss what defines an ecosystem and what makes them fragile or resilient. Through group games participants will learn food, population and other ecosystem cycles. Grades 3-4-5-6
Let’s Go Fly! – Dr. Bunson & Dr. Beaker become aviators and teach about the fundamentals of aerodynamics while testing your spatial reasoning skills with folding & flying paper airplanes. Humans have been fascinated with flight for a very long time. Participants will fold 3 different paper airplane designs and field test them. Airplanes, instructions, and field logs can be taken home or kept in the classroom for further explorations. Grades 3-4-5-6
